The Royal College of Nursing are to undertake industrial action

The following four Trusts across South Yorkshire:

  • Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust
  • Sheffield Health and Social Care NHS Foundation Trust
  • Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
  • Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust

On both days the industrial action will be for 12 hours between 6.30am and 8pm.
Our message to the public continues to be the same as with other recent industrial action: The NHS is working hard to keep patients safe during strikes, while delivering the best care possible, and patients should continue to attend appointments as planned unless contacted to reschedule. Nobody should put off seeking urgent or emergency care during the strikes, with key services continuing to operate.

The four South Yorkshire Trusts involved in industrial action are advising people to attend their appointments as planned unless contacted ahead of the 18 and 19. Trusts will contact people if their appointment needs to be rescheduled due to action.
GP and ambulance services are not involved in this action.

Please be assured that place directors from NHS South Yorkshire are working closely with their local health and care systems to manage any issues that may arise from the industrial action.

NHS South Yorkshire will stand up and manage a dedicated Incident Control Centre (ICC) over the imminent period of industrial action from 7am to 9pm on both 18 January and 19 January.

This situation may change depending upon industrial action negotiations.
