Have you thought about becoming an NHS governor in Rotherham, Doncaster or North Lincolnshire?

You’ve probably heard of school governors, but did you know there are also NHS governors, who play a vital volunteer role in local healthcare? We’re looking for some new ones to join us at Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust

If you are passionate about the NHS and keen to be a voice for patients, their families, carers and NHS staff, this could be the perfect role for you.

Putting your name forward to be a governor is simple. You just become a member of the Trust – it’s free - and we’ll help you to do that.

As a governor you can

  • Play your part in shaping the future direction of our Trust and the services we provide to local communities.
  • Build your knowledge about what is going on in the local and wider NHS.
  • Apply your experience and skills to make a positive difference for our patients

RDaSH Director of Corporate Assurance, Philip Gowland, said: “We have vacancies for governors to represent the people of Doncaster, Rotherham and North Lincolnshire. Elections for these seats, plus several more specialist governor roles across the services we provide, will take place soon and nominations have to be in by Friday 30 September 2022.

“Governors come from all walks of life and we will support you all the way. You just need to have the time to attend four meetings a year and some training sessions. But if you have more time to spare, there are lots of other opportunities to get more involved and work with your fellow governors.”

Governors must be aged over 16 and have:

  • An interest in local health services.
  • Good interpersonal skills to communicate with a range of people
  • Enthusiasm, commitment and able to work as a team.
  • Experiences in other roles, for example volunteering, at work or in your personal life.
