A tribute to Jo Cox

The campaign of the Great Get Together has been inspired by the family of the late MP Jo Cox, to champion local communities and community spirit.

Healthwatch plan

Working with Doncaster Town Cricket Club, Healthwatch will have a marquee information stand on the 16th June whilst the cricket team undergoes its training session, with the aim of speaking to families about their experiences over a warm BBQ and refreshments.

On Saturday 17th June, as Doncaster Town’s first XI play Kexborough CC on the field, Healthwatch Doncaster will be behind the boundary line, speaking to members of the public throughout the day on their health and social care experiences. With the cricket club, there’ll be a focus on raising awareness of sport participation and encouraging diverse communities to get involved.

Healthwatch Doncaster Chief Operating Officer Andrew Goodall said:

“We’re excited about being involved in the Great Get Together, and identified our local cricket club to have a presence throughout the weekend as an opportunity to speak to service users  about their views on health and social care. Long term, there is an agreement to advertise Healthwatch Doncaster’s services at the ground, and sponsoring a First XI player.”

During the weekend, people can be kept updated via Healthwatch Doncaster’s social media channels as tweets, messages and pictures are posted on our activities and discussions.

Nick Johnson, Doncaster Town Cricket Club commercial manager:

“We’ve recently installed a Healthwatch Doncaster advertising board at the cricket ground, to signpost our attendees and hope our opening partnership will endure to provide stories to Healthwatch and deliver increased participation in our Cricket, Hockey and Squash teams from a wide range of communities."
