With Rosie Winterton MP and Team GB boxer Conor Loftus presenting the certificates and trophies over the course of the afternoon, Healthwatch Doncaster’s Business Support Officer Emily, who joined in 2016 as a Business Admin Apprentice, was recognised for her achievements in gaining a full-time role and passing her relevant qualifications.

Emily said: “I was very surprised to win this award and want to thank everyone at Healthwatch Doncaster for their support and help since I joined."

To go from an Apprentice to an employee with responsibilities has been a great learning experience and I’m excited for what the future holds

Handling office administrative duties and supporting the team on engagement activities, Emily has also helped to gather views of local people on health and social care services, including our recent project looking into missed hospital appointments.

For its work in helping to develop Emily and its continued support of local apprentices, Healthwatch Doncaster were rewarded for their efforts.

Chief Operating Officer Andrew Goodall said:

“It has been fantastic to see Emily progress gradually into the Business Support Officer role having joined as an Apprentice, and she has handled all tasks with a growing maturity."

“Healthwatch Doncaster is proud to have Emily, and Elle Smith (Business Support Apprentice) in our team and they both make a valuable contribution including being the public faces of Young Healthwatch. Additionally, we’re delighted with the recent addition of student placements from Doncaster College working on our digital output.”
