New support for local people

Online support in Doncaster has a new addition during these unique times as Healthwatch Doncaster introduces Daily Dose, a safe virtual space for people to engage, be informed and influence by sharing their stories.

Healthwatch Doncaster is keen to redefine how engagement opportunities are delivered and are fully maximising online avenues to do this, aiming to help bridge the gap between the public and health and social care services.

‘Daily dose’ hopes to provide people in the Borough an opportunity to share their views and opinions from how they are accessing health and social care services to where they are going for support relating to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Community Engagement Officer Natalie Bowler-Smith said:

“We hope that by structuring our project around daily delivery of engagement, whilst still offering support and advice, we will offer people an opportunity to structure their days and utilise our campaign to remember the days of the week.”

Daily topics

Each day has as different topic that hopes to provide a mixture of inspiration, sharing stories, and bringing a change to daily conversations. There is no password required to join our Zoom meetings.

Andrew Goodall, Chief Operating Officer of Healthwatch Doncaster, said:

“Engage, Inform Influence has always been the message behind our engagement activities, and during Covid-19 we’ve adapted our approach to realise that many people will want to keep supported and informed by online channels."

All sessions will be delivered via Zoom except for Monday’s Make A Difference that will be broadcast on Facebook Live. Each daily dose will be delivered at the same time each day at 11am, to further compliment the structure of daily routines.

Local involvement

There has even been interest from local business and community groups who have offered their time in kind to keep their local community going.

Doncaster hypnotherapist Karen Lewchenco, who will be involved in a Daily Dose session, said: “I am honoured to take part in this project as we are all trying to do our bit to help people keep going.”
