  • Health Service Journal (HSJ) Awards – Staff Wellbeing Category
  • Henpicked Menopause Friendly Employer Awards - Most Open Workplace Category
  • Henpicked Menopause Friendly Employer Awards - Community Award Category
  • Healthcare People Management Association (HPMA) Excellence in People Awards - NHS Employers Award for Wellbeing

The remarkable work across South Yorkshire, named ‘Mission: Menopause’ has achieved the menopause friendly accreditation.  This is a ground-breaking system-wide initiative that has seen 15 partner organisations from the local authorities, foundation trusts, primary care, social care, and the voluntary sector come together to share learning and best practice on changing the culture around menopause in the workplace. Partners have collaborated on initiatives and have shown a real commitment to making menopause something that is discussed in day-to-day conversations.

The programme is led by Head of Health and Wellbeing for NHS South Yorkshire, Brigitte Kaviani who herself has been nominated for the Henpicked Community Award for her dedication and commitment to improving people’s experience of menopause in the workplace.

Commenting on the successful shortlisting’s, Brigitte said: “The entry standards across all of the awards this year has been phenomenal. Our partners across South Yorkshire have come together and jointly combined resources to complete the extraordinary work required to improve people’s lived experience of menopause in the workplace. The credit goes to the over 100 menopause advocates and champions.

When starting the programme, our aim was to tackle the taboo of menopause. We risked losing 10,000 South Yorkshire health and care staff due to menopause within five years. That’s 1 in 7 staff. Through our webinars and events we have engaged 50,950 of our 72,000 workforce (70%) building a real community. We got leaders and staff talking.

We truly are improving knowledge and wellbeing for our workforce and changing the culture in South Yorkshire, paving the way for other areas across our region.”

Winners for the awards will be announced throughout September and November.
