Our Acting Chair, Andrew Bosmans

Andrew

Andrew is a qualified accountant who has worked in and around Doncaster for many years. He has been a local Councilor/Elected Member of Doncaster Council and a member of the Audit Committee. Andrew now offers support to a number of Parish Councils across Doncaster as well as being a leading member of the Friends of Doncaster Airport. Andrew takes the lead for Finance for Healthwatch Doncaster and is keen to support the CIC to develop new business opportunities and income streams.

Debbie Osborne

Debbie has worked in the voluntary sector for nearly twenty years in a variety of roles and at present, she is the manager of DPfC Doncaster Carers Centre. Her job includes sitting on the local Physical Disabilities and Sensory Impairment Alliance group, Mental Health Alliance group, The Voluntary Sector Health and Social Care forum and Doncaster Carers Forum as well as providing a Carer Specific Advocacy service.

Dr Shakeel Jamali 

Dr Shakeel Jamali

Dr Jamali is a retired GP from Doncaster with special interest in Diabetes. He is a former Board Director at Primary Care Doncaster and Local Medical Committee, and honorary Secretary in the British Medical Association, Doncaster. He is passionate about helping individuals in Doncaster with health concerns to achieve a better life by providing the information and support that they require.

Alina Taba

Alina Taba

Alina holds a BA in Social Work and graduated MA in Sociology from Babes Bolyai University, Cluj, Romania. She continued her studies at Central European University, focusing on Sociology and Public Policy. Alina’s whole career (more than twenty years) was dedicated to actively engage and increase the access of marginalized populations, with focus on Roma people to health care and tackle health inequalities in access, experience and outcomes. Alina is a Roma woman and a migrant in the UK. Alina worked almost ten years with Public Health Program of Open Society Foundations, New York/Budapest. Alina moved to the UK and in 2021 and joined Doncaster Council/Public Health as a Community Connector and later on as Health Protection Engagement Officer. She used community centred approaches to improve the health and wellbeing of Roma and to reduce existing health inequalities. Currently Alina’s role is Migrant Health Officer in Doncaster Council, supporting Doncaster migrant populations to ensure appropriate access to health and wellbeing services. Alina's areas of interest are health inequalities, behavioural science, health inclusion and human rights.

Jon Finegold

Jon Finegold

 

Jon has been involved with Patient Participation Groups (PPGs) for many years, both in Doncaster and in Nottinghamshire. He is currently vice-chair of the Burns Practice PPG, and has been attending the monthly meetings of the Doncaster PPG Network (facilitated by Healthwatch) for the past five years. A qualified teacher, trainer and editor for books, training materials and websites, he is passionate about the need for effective – and timely – communication: both from the NHS to patients, but also from patients to the NHS. 

Jon is a trustee of the Lady Ellerker’s Land Trust, which supports people in financial need in and around Cantley and is active in the local community in many ways.  He has lived in Cantley, with his wife Amanda, a retired psychotherapeutic counsellor, for the past six or so years.
