People aged 65 to 69 in England are among those being invited to book a Covid-19 jab as the vaccination programme moves on to a new phase.
The clinically vulnerable are also being offered the jab as the vaccine rollout is officially expanded beyond the top four priority groups.
Invitation letters are being delivered to over-65s and the clinically vulnerable with people being asked to log on to the national booking service to make appointments.
Those who receive a letter can choose from more than 100 mass vaccination sites or almost 200 pharmacy services for their jab.
Local, GP-led vaccination sites will focus initially on the clinically vulnerable because of the relationship between general practice and those with long-term conditions.
If you are unable to travel to a mass vaccination site or pharmacy, you may choose to await an invitation from your local GP but this may take a while with so many people in these new cohorts to vaccinate.
If you are over 70 and you haven’t had your first dose, we are determined that nobody should be left behind. Please come forward now and make an appointment at nhs.uk/covidvaccination, or by phoning 119. The NHS will also be following up directly with the remaining people in this group by phone and letter, particularly those the Shielded Patients List – if that is you and you haven’t been written to, you can contact your GP.
You will be contacted
- Please don’t contact the NHS to seek a vaccine unless you are over 70, they will contact you when it is the right time;
- When they do contact you, please attend your booked appointments at exactly the time you’re asked to, so that they can avoid queues in this cold weather;
- And whether you have had your vaccine or not, please continue to follow all the guidance in place to control the virus and save lives.
Here are some helpful leaflets published by Public Health England:
After the announcement that people with a learning disability are to be prioritised for a vaccination, you can read easy-read information on being on the Learning Disability Register and waiting for your vaccination
You can read more about the vaccines, including most Frequently Asked Questions, on the NHS Doncaster Clinical Commissioning Group website
We've heard from people who've had a vaccination in Doncaster, explaining the process before and during the appointment.
